STEP INTO THE STORY BEHIND THE SAFE.
A Presentation of History. Preserved for Generations.
The Cannonball Safe represents one of the most innovative security designs of the late 19th century. Developed from the ideas of industrialist William G. Corliss, whose engineering work helped revolutionize steam-powered manufacturing, the safe was constructed using a solid cast manganese body designed to resist prying, separation, and forced entry.
Unlike traditional safes of the era that could be delaminated or broken apart, the Cannonball’s seamless rounded construction created a far more secure method for protecting bank assets. By the early 1900s, the design concept had been adopted by several manufacturers, but this piece remains an original Corliss Cannonball Safe — a rare example of early American security innovation.

Rolland's Historical Safe Collection located in Dallas, Texas, represents more than a century of security, craftsmanship, and preservation. From antique safes dating back to the 1800s to modern high-security innovations, each piece tells a story of how protection has evolved—while the mission has remained the same.
